Sansevieria as known as snake plant belongs to the Agavaceae family is one of the most popular ornamental plants due to their unique and beautiful appearance, this plant has many benefits, including being a textile material, absorbing toxins, even in recent studies it has been suggested that Sansevieria leaf extract can inhibit the growth of cancer cells. The fiber can be used as a textile raw material, depending on the type.
Snake plant is a type of ornamental plant originating from mainland Africa, Madagascar and South Asia. Sansevieria has about 70 species, where the inventor of this ornamental plant is Pietro Antonio Sanseverino. Another name for Sansevieria is Mother in law tounge flower or snake plant.
In this plant the stem is modified into rhizomes . This organ functions as a storage area for the food extracts from photosynthesis. Rhizome also plays a role in reproduction. Rhizome spreads below the soil surface. The end of this organ is a network of meristems that always grows lengthwise. Sansevieria flowers are contained in panicles that grow upright from the base of the stem and are unisexual flowers that have female flowers and male flowers.
Sansevieria has a variety of colored leaves, dark green, light green, green gray and a combination of white yellow or green yellow. The motives of the grooves or lines found on the leaf blade also vary, some follow the direction of the leaf fibers, are irregular and some are zigzagged. Sansevieria is able to store large amounts of water in all parts of the leaves, so it can survive even in dry and barren areas.

The leaves type of Sansevieria consists of 4 characteristics:

- Sansevieria Trifasciata
For this type of snake plant, Sansevieria trifasciata is a type of plant that was first discovered in West Africa. The leaves are flat and black to green. Sansevieria trifasciata has streaks along the leaves and yellow on the edges.
- Sansevieria Kirkii
Although snake plant has no aroma, Sansevieria kirkii is different. Sansevieria Kirkii has a fragrant aroma, suitable for air freshener. Its small shape resembles a star, making Sansevieria kirkii very fitting to be placed as a living decoration on the table.
- Sansevieria Stuckyi
Unlike other types of snake plants that are flat, Sansevieria stuckyi is rounded. Can give off a fragrant, green plant with dark green streaks that can grow up to two meters.
- Sansevieria Moonshine
Another type of snake plant that is no less unique is Sansevieria moonshine. If other snake plants are dark green, Sansevieria moonshine is actually a lighter color with slightly faded strokes. The leaves are short, making Sansevieria moonshine suitable as a table decoration.
- Sansevieria Black Gold
At first glance, Sansevieria Black Gold is indeed similar to Sansevieria trifasciata. What distinguishes here is the color of the leaves. Equally yellow at the edges, Sansevieria Black Gold has a darker green color than similar plants.
- Sansevieria Futura Robusta
Has a color gradation from gray to dark green which is unique to Sansevieria Futura Robusta. Sansevieria Futura Robusta can grow up to 60 cm. Because of its short size and can be watered every two weeks, Sansevieria Futura Robusta used to placed indoors.
- Sansevieria Golden Hahnii
Sansevieria Golden Hahnii is dominated by yellow to white in color with a green stripe in the middle.
- Sansevieria Cylindrica
This type of plant is very similar to Sansevieria Stuckyi. The difference is that Sansevieria Cylindrica has no aroma and can grow tall in the direction of the wind.
- Sansevieria Ehrenbergii
Sansevieria Ehrenbergii. If other types of snake plants have streaks on their leaves, Sansevieria Ehrenbergii is just plain. The leaves are only dark green with brown on the edges, and very stiff. No wonder some people often think this plant is made of plastic.
